Find the reason movement hurts. Then build it back.
Flow Clinic is a musculoskeletal podiatry clinic in Wairau Valley, on Auckland’s North Shore. That means we treat pain and injuries in the hip, knee, ankle and foot — how they move and how they carry load — rather than only the skin and nails.
We are an ACC registered treatment provider and a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider, so most injury visits can be claimed here and you do not need a referral from your GP. Appointments are available in English and Korean.
Where it hurts is not always where the problem starts.
Pain can be local, but the reason it keeps being overloaded may sit elsewhere. Hip control, ankle motion, strength, balance, walking pattern, footwear and a recent jump in activity can all change how much load one area has to absorb.
So we test the painful area and the parts connected to it. The goal is not to hunt for problems everywhere — it is to identify the few findings that actually matter to your symptoms and function.
Rehabilitation is then built around real targets: walking comfortably, getting through work, using stairs, training in the gym, running or returning to sport.
- A hip-to-foot assessment when the problem calls for it
- A plain-English explanation of what we found
- Rehabilitation that starts at the level you are at today
- Exercises you can realistically fit into your week
- Progress measured against the things you need to do
Jason Kwon is the musculoskeletal podiatrist.
Dedicated lower body care. The clinician who assesses you is the one who treats you, from the first visit through to the last.
Jason Kwon has spent most of his career on lower body injuries. Before opening Flow Clinic he worked in a sports physiotherapy practice, where the majority of his caseload was hips, knees, ankles and feet, and that volume is where his approach took shape.
Rather than treating the sore spot on its own, he looks at how your whole leg shares the work — what is called the kinetic chain. Every step sends force from the foot and lower leg up through the ankle into the knee and hip. When one link stops doing its share, another link absorbs the extra load, and that is often where the pain turns up. It is a common reason a problem keeps coming back after treatment aimed only at the painful area.
Jason grew up in Korea, where he lived for 17 years, and is fluent in Korean. What we found, what it means, your rehabilitation plan and any ACC paperwork can all be explained in English or Korean.
- Registered Podiatrist — Podiatrists Board of NZ, and member of Podiatry NZ
- ACC registered treatment provider
- Southern Cross Affiliated Provider
- Musculoskeletal focus — hip, knee, ankle and foot
- Fluent in English and Korean
One visit should leave you with more clarity, not more questions.
We keep the assessment focused: understand the problem, test what is relevant, then turn the findings into a plan you can use.
Show us what has changed.
We start with how it began, what makes it better or worse, what you have already tried, and the activity you want back.
Check the movements that matter.
Depending on the problem, we may check joint movement, strength, balance, how you walk, your footwear and the movements your activity actually demands, from the hip through to the foot.
Leave knowing what happens next.
You get a clear explanation of the relevant findings, what to do now, and how rehabilitation will progress toward your goal.
Less chasing symptoms. More rebuilding strength.
Pain relief matters, but it is only part of recovery. The bigger goal is to rebuild enough movement, strength and confidence for what your day actually asks of you.
Your plan starts at your current level and progresses toward your own target — whether that is a work shift, a 5 km run, gym training or simply walking without thinking about the problem.
- Goals based on the activity you want back
- Exercises that fit real life
- Progression based on how you respond, not a fixed timetable
- Built for work, walking, training and sport
